Chamber Supports Members Need for Housing the Workforce

The State is to decertify counties housing element by July 2012 if zoning is not changed

President/CEO Kristen Miller spoke yesterday before the County Board of Supervisors regarding the Goleta Valley Community Plan. The current plan in its current form does not allow for enough housing to be built over the next 20 years to accommodate natural population growth of the next generation. Miller and others ask that the EIR scope be modified to include the potential for more sites to be reserved for housing in a variety of styles. Current scope for the EIR excludes sites that were formally called opportunity sites for housing.
