2011 Outlook

Since 1947, the Goleta Valley Chamber of Commerce has provided leadership not only for the business community, but the Goleta Valley as a whole.  After two years of one of the most challenging economic environments of our generation, the need for strong business community leadership has never been so great.  Thankfully, the Goleta Valley has a rich history of pioneer spirit and technology innovation that has allowed our community to not only survive, but thrive in challenging times.

We have people and assets in the Goleta Valley that most communities can only dream about.  We have a world class university with a Nobel prize winning staff, that spins off groundbreaking technology and companies providing high paying, sustainable jobs; a recently renovated airport providing modern transportation infrastructure; a newly incorporated City of Goleta, a staff with a can-do attitude and a supportive city council; and un-paralleled natural resources including incredible weather, beautiful beaches, and the Channel Islands.  On top of all this, we have a vibrant private sector, including world class companies large and small who are leaders in their respective fields.  Did I mention that all of the above are members and leaders of the Goleta Valley Chamber of Commerce?

As we have since 1947, in 2011 the Goleta Valley Chamber of Commerce will work to improve our community by providing leadership in difficult times.  We will work to foster relationships in an effort to achieve tangible economic development and will continue to advocate and represent business to government.

Economic development, resulting job growth and the economic multiplier effect means support for our local non-profits and charities, sales to our retailers, filled rooms at our hotels, and increased tax revenue to support our schools, public safety and community infrastructure.  In short, as the business community succeeds, so do the citizens of the Goleta Valley.
